The division offers to examine and supervise thesis work (Examensarbete) for undergraduate students in Computer Science (Datalogi), Computer Communications (Datorkommunikation) and Software Engineering (Programvaruteknik). Both Bachelor (Dataingenjör) and Master (Civilingenjör) students within the areas are welcome to apply. The application should include a well written thesis proposal.

To be allowed to pursue the thesis work the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • Students must have earned 140 points (100 points for Bachelor students) that can be applied to their degree. In particular, note that students with 2 or 3 beginning courses in imperative programming will only be allowed to count one. See 'studiehandboken' (in Swedish only) or contact the student counsellor or the student office if in doubt.
  • Students should not have any base or core courses that have not been passed. An exception can be made for those with 1 or perhaps 2 outstanding exams, but the student must present a credible plan. Homework, lab, and project portions must be completed.
  • Students with less than 160 points (110 points for Bachelor students) that can be applied to their degree must present a plan on how they will complete the degree.
  • Students should have completed all courses that are mandatory for the area of the thesis. See 'studiehandboken' (in Swedish only).
  • Students must have completed any courses that the potential examiner feels are needed to successfully complete the thesis.
